On Thursday March 5, Parisian audiences are invited to rediscover the restored version of Djibril Diop Mamb\u00e9ty&#8217;s cult film. <\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"4\">It&#8217;s a not-to-be-missed event for cinephiles. On <b data-path-to-node=\"4\" data-index-in-node=\"62\">Thursday March 5 at 7pm<\/b>, the UGC Od\u00e9on-Danton cinema in Paris will host a one-off screening of <b data-path-to-node=\"4\" data-index-in-node=\"154\"><i data-path-to-node=\"4\" data-index-in-node=\"154\">Touki Bouki<\/i><\/b> (1973). This special evening is organized by <b data-path-to-node=\"4\" data-index-in-node=\"217\">Cin\u00e9 Club Afro<\/b>, in partnership with streaming platform <b data-path-to-node=\"4\" data-index-in-node=\"280\">MUBI<\/b>, underlining their shared commitment to the dissemination of visionary and diverse cinematic works.  <\/p>\n<h3 data-path-to-node=\"5\">A radical, restored work<\/h3>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"6\">Directed by Djibril Diop Mamb\u00e9ty, <i data-path-to-node=\"6\" data-index-in-node=\"34\">Touki Bouki<\/i> is considered a major work of African cinema. Between urban wandering and poetic fulgurances, the film follows Mory, a young shepherd, and Anta, a rebellious student, bound by the same dream: to leave Dakar for Paris. Through their journey, the filmmaker deconstructs the fantasy of exile and, with striking modernity, questions the often illusory promises of the West.  <\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"7\">This screening is all the more eagerly awaited as it presents the film in its <b data-path-to-node=\"7\" data-index-in-node=\"77\">4K restoration<\/b>, an essential preservation work carried out by the Film Foundation and the Cineteca di Bologna, in close collaboration with Teemour Diop Mamb\u00e9ty.<\/p>\n<h3 data-path-to-node=\"8\">Beyond the screen: dialogue and transmission<\/h3>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"9\">True to its mission of creating spaces for reflection, Cin\u00e9 Club Afro is not content with a simple screening. The screening will be followed by an exceptional meeting.
