Alia Baré’s career began in the banking world, where she worked as a customer advisor and asset manager. Later, she worked in an actuarial firm, specializing in calculating pension risks in France. A solid career in a field seemingly far removed from fashion, but Alia never gave up her passion for creativity. Things took a significant turn when her husband was posted to India. She followed him, but her status did not allow her to work.
His story is an inspiring example of how entrepreneurship, creativity and design can merge to create something beautiful and meaningful.
Alia Baré, a jewelry designer in India
She decided to return to her studies in fashion and create her own brand. India, the land of precious stones and jewelry, inspired her to create a brand of bespoke gold and gemstone jewelry. This period was marked by the sale of customized jewelry for engagements, weddings and anniversaries. The creative process and working with local artisans deepened her passion for creation. After India, life took her to Singapore, where she had to put her jewelry-making activities on hold, as managing remote artisans proved difficult. It was here that her career took a new turn. While awaiting the birth of her second daughter, she began making dresses.

Sewing and pattern-making became a real revelation for Alia. She discovered an art form that demanded both creativity and mathematical skills, playing on proportions, balance and precision. This complexity fueled her love of fashion, prompting her to resume her studies as a fashion student in Singapore, an experience that brought her closer to a whole new generation of students. After Singapore, she settled in Dakar and opened her workshop, guided by her desire to create and undertake. Thus was born her eponymous brand, Alia Baré, an expression of her unique style blending influences from Niger, India and Singapore.
