African history is often viewed from historical, social and political angles. Culture Pagne offers a different perspective. It’s a plunge into the past through fabrics. The motifs, weaving techniques and meanings of African textiles reveal ancestral traditions. They also reflect the evolution of societies, their exchanges and economic transformations.
An educational adventure for all
Anne Grosfilley, an expert in African textiles, is leading this project. She uses her personal collection. Each episode takes an educational approach. Historian Claude Boli and their son Thomas also take part. Thomas brings a touch of freshness. He makes the series accessible to everyone. His questions make complex subjects easier to understand.

Culture Pagne tackles several important topics. Each topic highlights the role of textiles in Africa:
