An early artistic vocation
Born in Senegal, Diarra Niane was immersed in a creative world from an early age. In Italy, where she spent part of her childhood, she discovered music and cinema. These early artistic experiences awakened a particular sensitivity in her. Back in Senegal, she was immersed in an environment rich in colors and textures, thanks to her mother’s professional activity in textiles. This immersion had a profound effect on her artistic vision.
After completing her baccalauréat, Diarra Niane chose to study architecture. She appreciated the creative dimension of this discipline, but soon realized that her heart was more in the direction of freer expression. So she turned to fashion, a discipline that allowed her to combine design and aesthetics.
At a Paris fashion school, she honed her sense of design and explored new techniques. At the same time, she developed her own artistic universe. Painting becomes her outlet, a space where she expresses her emotions and reflections.
An eclectic artistic career
With architecture as a starting point, Diarra Niane began her higher education with a degree in architecture. This choice enabled her to acquire a solid technical base and develop her sense of space. Architecture gave her the tools to design and structure, skills that she put to good use in her artistic creations. However, she soon felt the need to explore freer, more creative forms of expression.
It was then that she turned to fashion as a creative playground. At a Paris fashion school, she learned to manipulate materials, create volumes and develop her aesthetic sense. Fashion offered her a structured framework in which to express her creativity, while allowing her great freedom of expression.
Contemporary art: a quest for authenticity. In parallel with her studies, Diarra Niane explores contemporary art. She experiments with a variety of techniques, from painting to collage to installation. Her works, often abstract, are imbued with strong emotion and great sensitivity. Live painting, which she discovered at Célie Rabican’s fashion show, quickly became one of her favorite expressions. This practice enables her to create live, to give free rein to her intuition and to connect with the public immediately.
