Freed Armel Akouta is a digital marketing consultant and fashion business specialist. He is also the initiator of Mode Afrique Media and the Mode Afrique Forum. He began his career in modeling at university. In 2014, Freed took his first steps into the world of fashion.

During his studies, he joined a cultural and artistic association. There, he became interested in the fashion sector and tried his hand at market research. He soon discovered that brands and institutions in the sector were failing to communicate effectively. This led him to set up a Facebook page, entitled “Mannequin et Modèle du Bénin”, to facilitate model castings. Then, in 2016, his Facebook page evolved into a media format to professionalize the promotion of African fashion. At the same time, Freed manages the digital communication strategies of several Beninese brands.

An agency serving African creativity

Freed develops his digital marketing skills to broaden his range of services. He founded an agency specializing in the fashion, beauty and luxury sectors. In Benin, a cotton-producing country, he is working to support a dynamic fashion industry. A recently opened industrial plant contributes to local clothing production. Every year, new talents emerge, and Freed believes it is essential to create an ecosystem conducive to their development.

Visibility is crucial to the success of Benin’s fashion industry. With his team, Freed is committed to making the work of designers more visible. He also sees a lack of guidance for many entrepreneurs in the sector. Often, their skills remain limited to the technical aspects of producing collections. Freed believes that a brand needs business management skills to thrive. His aim is to fill this gap and help players develop their brands sustainably through a fashion business training program.
