An event to celebrate African creativity
From October 6 to 12, 2025, the Euro-Africa Biennial in Montpellier offers over 100 events, bringing together nearly 300 artists, thinkers and entrepreneurs for a shared future. One of the highlights of the Biennial is its focus on African fashion and creativity, with several events not to be missed.
As Michaël Delafosse, Mayor of Montpellier and President of Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole, points out: “With over 100 events, 50 associated partners and almost 300 artists, thinkers, scientists, sportsmen and women and entrepreneurs, let’s work together to make the Montpellier 2025 Euro-Africa Biennial a vibrant testimony to our commitment to a shared, prosperous and sustainable future, a symbol of cooperation.
The Fondation Zinsou partners this unique biennial event
The Fondation Zinsoua renowned cultural institution based in Benin, is one of the Biennial’s key partners. It will be presenting Tropisme Hallon Wednesday October 8ththe opening of its travelling exhibition Mix & Match. This exhibition showcases the textile medium as a collective memory and a tool of protest.
African fashion and creativity at Halle Tropisme
La Tropisme Hall will be one of the Biennale’s central venues. Visit Wednesday October 8a conference will be held on dynamics and models of creative placeswith the participation of the director of Halle Tropisme and French and African project leaders.
Le Thursday, October 9thHalle Tropisme will host a conference on the theme of ” Setting up and financing a project between two continents “moderated by Ambre Delacroix, a journalist specializing in cultural and economic diplomacy between Africa and France.
Le Friday, October 10th is shaping up to be a landmark day. A parade is organized to close the support program. Creation Africa Botswanafeaturing creations by Botswanan designers. The evening continues with the Workshop Nightwhere African artists will be invited to collaborate with Montpellier designers. The night will feature performances by Rwandan bands Kenny Mirasano and +250, and Tanzanian group Asili.
Urban Fashion Show on the Esplanade Charles de Gaulle
Le Saturday, October 11, l’Esplanade Charles de Gaulle will be transformed into a veritable open-air fashion stage for theUrban Fashion Show. This dance show will feature contemporary fashion from Botswana, Morocco and Cameroon. Designers from the Création Botswana program, Label Oued from Casablanca, and Cameroonian designer Chris l’Italien, who specializes in upcycling, will be in the spotlight.
Alongside the parade, the esplanade will host the Afrobreak Montpellier breakdance battle. Dancers from ten African countries will compete against each other to the delight of the public, with initiations and demonstrations scheduled throughout the week.
With such a varied and inspiring program, the Biennale Euro-Africa de Montpellier 2025 promises to be a major event celebrating creativity, innovation and collaboration between the two continents. For further information, please visit the official event website.
