Adama paris, the pioneer of African fashion events
Paris, the fashion capital of the world, is gearing up for a summer of African fashion. Under the impetus ofAdama Paris, an emblematic figure and visionary of the continent’s fashion, two major events will punctuate the Parisian calendar, offering unprecedented visibility to emerging and established talents. These are the “Africa Now” pop-up store at Galeries Lafayette Haussmann and the spectacular “Black Fashion Experience” at the foot of the Eiffel Tower. These initiatives confirm the rise of African fashion on the international scene, a movement celebrating savoir-faire, elegance and innovation.
The Africa Now pop-up, a showcase for African fashion at Galeries Lafayette
From June 18 to July 8, 2025, the emblematic Galeries Lafayette Paris Haussmann opens its doors to “Africa Now”, a pop-up store entirely dedicated to contemporary African fashion. This event is a unique opportunity to discover strong, distinctive pieces, the fruit of ancestral know-how and a resolutely modern vision.
The Adama Paris collective is at the heart of this exhibition, presenting a cutting-edge selection of designers:
- Adama Paris herself, with her Afro-urban fashion that blends modern expression with a rich cultural heritage.
- Ibrahim Fernandez, known for his sophisticated African-print dresses, worn with an assertive couture touch and a strong African identity. His high-end, made-to-measure ready-to-wear is “Made in Abidjan”.
- Néné Yaya, specialist in luxury leather goods “Made in Africa”, whose creations combine refinement, tradition and modernity.
- Sisters of Afrika, an inclusive and vibrant brand, rooted in an Afro-feminine narrative, celebrating African culture with pieces that tell stories.
Other renowned organizations, such as CANEX and Africa Fashion Hub, will also enrich this collective celebration by presenting 3 to 4 additional designers each. This plurality of voices guarantees a complete and diversified panorama of African fashion.
Alix Morabito, Director of Women’s Fashion Purchasing and Special Projects at Galeries Lafayette, comments: “We are delighted to welcome this new generation of contemporary fashion designers from the African continent. Through this pop-up, Galeries Lafayette continues to affirm its desire to reveal the energy of creation to the public.”
The “Africa Now” pop-up can be found on the 3rd floor of Espace La Coupole, 25 rue de la Chaussée d’Antin – 75009 Paris, during store opening hours.
Black Fashion Xperience: a grand finale at the foot of the Eiffel Tower
To round off this immersion in African fashion, Adama Paris invites you to a new edition of the Black Fashion Experience. On Friday, July 11, 2025 at 6 p.m., an exceptional fashion show will be held in a setting as mythical as it is inspiring: at the foot of the Eiffel Tower, on barges moored at 1 quai de Grenelle, 75015 Paris.
This major event will bring together the four designers of the Adama Paris collective (Adama Paris, Ibrahim Fernandez, Néné Yaya, Sisters of Afrika) and six other talented designers from the continent and the diaspora.
The Black Fashion Experience is the natural extension of the “Africa Now” pop-up. It’s not just a fashion show, it’s a veritable visual, audio and cultural hymn to African elegance, to be discovered in the heart of Paris. It’s a unique opportunity to see, understand and recount the aesthetic and cultural power of an Africa on the move.
Two not-to-be-missed events for the press and the public
These two complementary events are key moments for the media, influencers and the general public wishing to discover the richness and diversity of African fashion:
- AFRICA NOW pop-up: from June 18 to July 8 at Galeries Lafayette.
- Black Fashion Experience: July 11 at 6pm, on barges at the foot of the Eiffel Tower.
These initiatives, orchestrated by Adama Paris, boost the visibility of African designers and help position Paris as an essential platform for promoting the continent’s talents. They offer an authentic and innovative perspective on fashion that draws its strength from its cultural roots to project itself boldly into the future.
