From October 15 to 20, 2026, Nahyel Concept Store will take over the French capital with its flagship event, “Afrique en Scène,” showcasing Senegal alongside other talents from the continent. Featuring a multi-brand pop-up, a strategic discussion on soft power with Youssou N’Dour, and professional networking opportunities, the initiative builds a vital bridge between Dakar and global markets.

How Paris Is Becoming a Showcase for Contemporary Senegalese Art

For a long time, independent African brands have approached European markets through scattered initiatives or pop-up private sales. With “Afrique en Scène,” Nahyel Concept Store—which already has locations in Dakar (Place Washington) and Abidjan (Rue des Jardins, 2 Plateaux Vallon)—is taking things to the next level by establishing a true platform for commercial and cultural growth right in the heart of Paris.

This inaugural edition aims to highlight Senegal’s creativity and dynamism, while also opening its racks to designers from other African capitals. The goal goes beyond simply showcasing aesthetics: it is to offer selected SMEs and designers a structured space to test their products with a cosmopolitan international audience, observe the demands of the global retail market, and negotiate new business opportunities.

Under the motto “Our Roots Travel,” the project reminds us that African creativity is no longer merely a source of folkloric inspiration for the West. It asserts its status as a self-sufficient industry, capable of blending the authenticity of stories rooted in memory with world-class standards of cut, craftsmanship, and finish.

Youssou N’Dour and the highlights of a week of total immersion

Youssou N'Dour, guest of honor

The “Afrique en Scène” program is structured as a comprehensive journey that combines intellectual reflection, retail engagement, stage performances, and the development of technical skills:

  • The opening panel discussion on the Cultural and Creative Industries (October 15): The official launch kicks off with a major roundtable discussion on the theme “From Creativity to Soft Power.” Featuring music legend and cultural icon Youssou N’Dour, this panel brings together experts, media representatives, and decision-makers to address a critical challenge: how to transform raw talent into sustainable businesses and enable African brands to scale up in international markets.
  • The Immersive Pop-Up Store (October 15–18): For four days, Nahyel’s traveling concept store will open its doors to the Parisian public and buyers. The space features a carefully curated selection of ready-to-wear clothing, exceptional leather goods, jewelry, design objects, and fragrances, offering a comprehensive sensory experience of the contemporary Afro lifestyle.
  • The Fashion Show and Artistic Collaboration (October 17): A moment of cultural intensity where fashion meets music, featuring a selection of sculptural pieces and silhouettes by the participating designers, unveiled on the runway in direct harmony with Youssou N’Dour’s theatrical universe.
  • Field Trips and Professional Visits (October 19 and 20): The last two days are devoted to hands-on learning. The designers will visit Parisian workshops, luxury brands, and department stores to analyze logistics processes, supply chain management, and the expectations of European retailers.

Twenty brands spanning fashion, leather goods, and fine crafts

Leather Goods Made in Senegal

To showcase the continent’s stylistic maturity, Nahyel Concept Store has brought together an eclectic group of twenty contemporary designers and fashion houses:

  • High-end fashion and ready-to-wear: Brands such as Néné Yaya, Sayana, Setsy, By Pathé, Nawel Style, Wadji, Fanelka, Edgmery, Saraya, and Heritage Couture demonstrate the versatility of African fashion, effortlessly navigating between modernized boubous, precise tailoring, and fluid everyday wardrobes.
  • Leather goods and luxury accessories: The high standards of handcrafted leather and plant-based fiber goods are particularly evident in Nahyel’s signature designs, as well as in the jewelry sets and pieces from brands such as Imaara, Ngoné, and House of Elegance.
  • Lifestyle and Sensory Textures: Brands such as Neroli, Diongoma, Pertinence, Al Gueye, and O Fil du Rêve enrich the experience by exploring interior design, artistic textiles, and natural cosmetics formulated with premium local ingredients.

This diversity of creative expressions demonstrates that African fashion is best understood as a global ecosystem in which every artisan, designer, and perfumer contributes to enhancing the continent’s value chain.

Turning fleeting visibility into lasting access to global markets

The philosophy behind Nahyel Concept Store marks a departure from traditional formats, which often confine African designers to exhibitions with no economic future. The Paris location is conceived as a strategic export laboratory.

By directly testing their prototypes against feedback from Parisian consumers and visiting influencers, brand founders can assess the appropriateness of their pricing structures, the accuracy of their size charts, and the durability of their materials. This approach helps them avoid the pitfall of underpricing while ensuring the per-unit profitability essential to maintaining their workshops in Dakar, Abidjan, or Cotonou.

This engagement with the Parisian ecosystem also serves as a catalyst for establishing selective distribution (wholesale) agreements, attracting the loyal customer base of diaspora communities, and securing a lasting position for African ateliers within Europe’s most exclusive sales networks.

Building lasting bridges between Dakar and international standards

With “Afrique en Scène,” Nahyel Concept Store reaffirms that the true emancipation of African fashion rests on the autonomy of its distribution and the solidarity of its stakeholders. By leveraging the international prestige of renowned ambassadors and pooling the combined strength of twenty independent fashion houses, the event demonstrates that collective action is the key to competing with major global corporations.

From October 15 to 20, 2026, Paris will not only be the setting for an aesthetic showcase: the city will become the hub where new business models—sustainable and proud of their roots—are invented, models that will definitively establish African creativity at the forefront of the international scene.
